Mangoletsi Staff Member Wins Talent Show. - 24/03/2011

Our very own Viccie Dougall has won the Knutsford based talent competition "It's My Time”. The competition was run in conjunction with the Knutsford Guardian and local social enterprise "The Hive". The competition has fed by a series of auditions held throughout Cheshire in the early part of last month. After the first round of auditions the judges whittled down the over whelming number of entrants to just 10, which included of course our Viccie. 

The next step of the competition would involve the "Final 10" having to record a single and post it on the papers website. The single would then be viewed and voted on by members of the public, it was from this votes that the 5 finalists would be decided. After the final votes were cast and counted, the results came in and on the 4th of March 2011 with Viccie Dougall of Mangoletsi Knutsford amongst them.  

One judge said of the contests, before the final 5 were selected, “Throughout each heat the standard was extremely high and to come to an overall decision of who got through was quite hard. However, I can guarantee that those who did can truly say 'It's my time'."

Then came the Final. The last lucky few to be involved had to sing a song of their own choice as well as "Caught in the Crossfire" the song which the lucky winner would go on to record. The judging panel was made up of 4 panellists, the crowd and the band. After all the singing was over and the judges votes had been cast the final ended in a tie. The tie was between Viccie and Kara McKreanor, and was decided by a "Sing-off", and to no one here at Mangoletsi's surprise Viccie Dougall was unveiled as the winner of "It's My Time" 2011.  

Victoria Jane Dougall started with us here at Mangoletsi Knutsford in 2009 and has been part of the family ever since. Viccie, as she's known to friends, graduated from Liverpool Hope University with a B.A. Hons in Acting, in July. She did this while working 34 hours a week which is no mean feat.  Vicky started performing for as long as she can remember and is an active member of Knutsford Little Theatre group in which she was the leading in their production of Jack Sharkey's "The Murder Room".

Viccie's single "Caught in the Crossfire"; will be released on iTunes on the 4th of April 2011. The C.D. will go on special "Pre-release" on Sunday the 27th of March, with the launch party being held in "DeeBee's" in Winsford.
